La Gomera is read through its relief, its coastline and the contrast between interior and coast. Humid forests, deep slopes and a whistled language travelling from ravine to ravine.
La Gomera covers 370 km2 and its highest reference is Garajonay (1,487 m). These are not only figures: they help interpret coasts, midlands, summits, ravines and settlement patterns.
Among its main reference points are Silbo Gomero, Garajonay, Atlantic stopover, which connect landscape, memory and everyday life. Geography explains why some places concentrated paths, crops, defences, ports or ritual spaces, while others kept a more scattered human presence.

Costa abrupta sin grandes playas
El litoral gomero es en su mayor parte acantilado; solo Valle Gran Rey, Hermigua y algunas playas aisladas del sur ofrecen acceso comodo al mar.
