Islote del Francés forms part of the Arrecife waterfront. The coastal boundary notice published in the BOE in 2024 identifies San Gabriel, Francés and Fermina among the islets in this reef system. [1]
The islet preserves the industrial history of Arrecife’s waterfront. It housed the buildings of La Rocar, an important canning business on Lanzarote. An aerial photograph in the island council’s archive, dated between 1991 and 2000, records the former complex after its abandonment, beside part of the Charco de San Ginés. [2]
