Composer, producer and musician
Enrique Mateu de Villavicencio is a composer, producer and musician linked to Gran Canaria, and the founder of the multidisciplinary project ARTENARA.
Official sources place his birth in Wimbledon, United Kingdom, in 1960, and explain that he learned the timple at the age of six after settling in Gran Canaria. He later studied classical guitar in Madrid and pursued further specialisation in other Spanish and European cities, which allowed him to work across performance, composition and production.
Since 1990 he has directed INEXART and built a career in which solo works, collaborations and technological projects coexist. His official site presents him as the founder of ARTENARA, a project created in 1996 to update the folkloric and traditional roots of the Canary Islands through a multidisciplinary approach, while also developing initiatives such as Timple Digital.
