Musician, composer and producer

Pablo Díaz-Reixa is a Gran Canaria musician and producer known artistically as El Guincho, associated with electronic experimentation and the international projection of Canarian pop.

Early life

Pablo Díaz-Reixa was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on 14 July 1983. A musician, producer and composer, he spent his youth between the archipelago and Barcelona, where he moved in 2002 after studying Audiovisual Communication. Before El Guincho was consolidated as his solo alias, he was part of Coconot, an experimental-electronic and pop project linked to Folías.

Historical role

His public figure consolidated with Alegranza in 2007, an album that marked the starting point of his notoriety, and with Pop Negro in 2010, which reinforced his role in Spanish electronic pop. Later, HiperAsia pushed that line toward a more urban and confessional work, while his production and musical direction for Rosalía on El Mal Querer and his involvement in Aute Cuture and Con Altura placed him at the centre of contemporary pop production.

Legacy

El Guincho is the artistic alias of a single person, not a separate group. The work issued under that name is developed in the specialised music profile, where discography, repertory, sonic aesthetics and collaborations are kept.
