Julia Rodríguez is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Fuerteventura linked to the timple, Canarian folklore and a contemporary reading of island tradition.
Institutional sources present her as a native of Fuerteventura and emphasise her training in jazz singing at the ESMUC, transverse flute at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria conservatoire and complementary studies in timple, Venezuelan cuatro, guitar, percussion, composition and arrangements. Her family background, with a strong musical tradition, and her learning with Domingo Rodríguez “El Colorao” place her within a generation rewriting Canarian folklore in its own voice.
With Hacia la vida, her first EP, she began to occupy a visible place in contemporary Canarian music. The later recognition of that work and her presence on stages across the archipelago confirm that her role already exceeds that of a promise: she is one of the young voices connecting roots, academic training and singer-songwriter writing.
