Domingo Rodríguez «El Colorao»

Domingo Rodríguez Oramas was born in La Vega de Tetir, Fuerteventura, in 1964, in a family linked to folklore. In 1985 he travelled to Paris to study classical guitar with the Canarian maestro Blas Sánchez and later attended guitar training courses in Madrid.

After returning to the Canary Islands in 1990 he began teaching. From 1992 onwards he focused his professional career on the timple, performing on island stages and also in external circuits such as the United States, Uruguay, Cuba, Germany, France and Mexico. His early discography includes El timple, Timpliando and Aulaga; Timpliando was recorded in 1999 with Domingo Rodríguez Oramas on timple and Juan Carlos Pérez Brito on guitar.

His cultural importance is linked to consolidating the timple as a concert and teaching instrument. He was the first timple player to publish a solfege-written timple method used by music schools in the archipelago.
