Open biographyDomingo Rodríguez received family teaching in folk tradition, travelled to Paris in 1985 to study classical guitar with Blas Sánchez and later attended guitar courses in Madrid. In 1990 he returned to the Canary Islands and began teaching. From 1992 onwards he focused his professional career on the timple, performing on stages in the archipelago and in countries such as the United States, Uruguay, Cuba, Germany, France and Mexico.
His main contribution lies in professionalising the Fuerteventura timple as a concert and teaching instrument. He was the first timple player to publish a solfege-written timple method used by music schools in the archipelago. His trajectory traces a line of renewal distinct from other soloists: guitar technique, Fuerteventura roots, traditional repertoire and teaching transmission.
His style starts from the timple and Canarian folklore but rests on classical guitar training. His repertoire spans popular pieces, folías, sorondongo majorero, berlina herreña, aires de lima, Latin American repertoire and original compositions.
