Josefina Plá was a writer and artist born on Lobos Island in 1903, whose intellectual and creative career developed mainly in Paraguay.
María Josefina Plá Guerra Galvany was born on Lobos Island on 9 November 1903. The Biblioteca de Canarias and ULPGC document her Canarian origin and her family's move to mainland Spain in 1908.
In the late 1920s she settled in Paraguay, where she developed wide-ranging literary, critical and artistic work. The Biblioteca de Canarias notes that after her husband's death in 1937 she returned to Paraguay and continued a career linked to cultural institutions, teaching and research.
Her presence in a Canarian catalogue should be understood through this island origin and an Atlantic network, without displacing Paraguay's central place in her life and work.
