Inauguration of the Pueblo Canario and the Museo Néstor in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

In 1956 the Pueblo Canario was inaugurated in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, an architectural ensemble conceived by the painter Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre to bring together the islands' building tradition. Néstor did not live to see it completed: he had died in 1938, and it was his younger brother, the architect Miguel Martín-Fernández de la Torre, who directed the work from 1939, respecting his sketches. The Museo Néstor, designed by both brothers, opened within the same complex and houses most of the artist's pictorial output.
