Historical Figures

The Arenas Negras eruption began on 5 May 1706 and remained active for about forty days. Its lava and volcanic deposits reached Garachico, destroyed homes and infrastructure, and severely affected its harbour, with long-lasting economic consequences. Lanzarote's eruption was the Timanfaya episode of 1730–1736, not this 1706 event.
