Rogelio Botanz

Rogelio Botanz Parra was born on 22 December 1956 in Legazpi, Guipúzcoa, and developed his cultural life in Tenerife from 1978. He is a musician, researcher, teacher and cultural activist linked to the defence and dissemination of Canarian culture and identity.

His public biography is tied to Taller Canario de Canción, a project created in 1985 with Andrés Molina and Pedro Guerra. Through that space he took part in the continuity of Canarian singer-songwriter music and in a musical reading that connected island repertoires, Latin American tradition, social memory and experimentation with Canarian popular percussion and instruments. In 2007 he was described as a singer-songwriter based in Tenerife since 1978, with Vuelos linked to a pop substrate and Canarian sounds.
