Luis Morera Felipe is a singer, songwriter and visual artist from La Palma, the lead voice of Taburiente and a figure linked to the renewal of Canarian popular music since the 1970s.
Luis Morera Felipe was born in Santa Cruz de La Palma on 10 October 1946. He is a musician, poet, painter, sculptor and designer of architectural spaces, with work structured around the relationship between art, nature and Canarian identity, surveyed in the retrospective El arte de vivir.
In music his career is tied to Taburiente, founded on La Palma in 1974 with Miguel Pérez and Manolo Pérez. The group took part in the birth and evolution of Nueva Canción Canaria; Morera stood out as soloist and composer of some pieces, and Taburiente’s first LPs became reference points for Canarian roots music through their mixture of folklore, rock, electronic instruments and jazz concepts.
