- Descent of the Virgin of Las NievesLa Palma venerates the Virgin of Las Nieves as its patroness; her island feast on 5 August is a public holiday across the island. The Fiestas Lustrales de la Bajada, in which the image descends from her sanctuary to Santa Cruz de La Palma, are held every five years (years ending in 0 and 5) since 1680 and were declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2024.
