Laurel forest, Canary pine woodland, fayal-brezal heath, cliff vegetation and volcanic species reveal a remarkably diverse flora.
A steep, green island crossed by ravines and volcanoes that continue to write its story. Vegetation makes humidity, wind, salinity, altitude and volcanic soils legible.
Among its main reference points are Benahoarite heritage, Atlantic port, Living volcanic island, which connect landscape, memory and everyday life. Flora also preserves traces of traditional uses, cultivation and environmental change.

The laurel forest of Los Tilos
A cloud forest of Tertiary origin, with fayas, viñatigos, tilos and acebiños; it preserves one of the highest densities of plant endemism in the Canary Islands.
The pine forest of Cumbre Vieja
The pine woods in the south of the island grow on recent lava flows, adapting their roots to barely developed soils; the Canary pine actively colonises land after eruptions.
Fayal-brezal heath of the midlands
The transition between the laurel forest and drier areas is occupied by a woodland of fayas and tree heaths which on La Palma reaches an especially well preserved extent and continuity.
High-mountain volcanic vegetation
In the upper belts there are communities of tajinastes and codesos adapted to the extreme conditions of altitude, temperature and young volcanic soils.
