Wine exports from Tenerife and La Palma begin to appear in the documentary record.

Wine exports from La Palma and Tenerife are documented from the early 1520s. Production grew during the first half of the sixteenth century and served Atlantic markets, with the Indies as the leading overseas destination. This replaces the unsupported claim of a first export to Madeira in 1515.
