Ildefonso Aguilar de la Rúa

Although born in Los Santos, Salamanca, Aguilar has lived in Lanzarote since childhood, and his career has been shaped around the perception of the island landscape. He is a visual artist, photographer and audiovisual creator whose production spans painting, photography, video, sound and installations.

His work explores light, mineral texture, silence and the scale of Lanzarote's volcanic landscape. That connection is not treated merely as a local subject, but as a visual and sonic language linking memory, matter and perceptual experience.

He is also a member of the Real Academia Canaria de Bellas Artes de San Miguel Arcángel and has received distinctions connected with Lanzarote and the Canary Islands. The profile should therefore be read as that of a mainland-born creator whose cultural biography belongs decisively to Lanzarote.
