Alternative pop rock group
The Good Company is a Gran Canaria alternative pop-rock band linked to Víctor Ordóñez, with national reach and a discography including 28, Dearland and Walden Year.
Radio 3 places the project’s beginning when Gran Canaria musician Víctor Ordóñez moved to Barcelona and met Sergio Pueyo. After contests, festivals and venues such as Sidecar or Apolo [2], the debut 28 appeared on McKenzie Muzik. Europa Press documents the national reputation gained after 28 and Dearland, and the crowdfunding of Walden Year, a third album based on H. D. Thoreau’s Walden.
Its importance lies in representing a cosmopolitan route for Canarian indie: Gran Canaria origin, formation in Barcelona, return to island stages and circulation through national media. The Canary Islands Government cited it in the 2010 FMAC among the acts with acclaimed records beyond the islands.
The band works with Anglo-American pop and rock references, broad arrangements and narrative writing. Walden Year expands the format towards gospel, northern folk, Africanism and post-rock, with an almost literary soundtrack concept.
The group’s transmission rests on records, Radio 3 appearances, festivals such as WOMAD Las Palmas and Eólica, and later rereadings such as 41Km Home on Pin Up Recordings with Javier Infante. That continuity keeps it within the memory of recent Canarian pop rock.
Radio 3 presents the debut release Busy Town / 28.
The Canary Islands Government includes the band among acts with acclaimed records beyond the islands.
The band funds and releases its third studio album.
Pin Up Recordings releases a rereading of one of the group’s songs with Javier Infante.
