Melodic rock and AOR band
Hackers is a Las Palmas de Gran Canaria band focused on melodic rock and AOR, with musicians from the islands’ hard-rock tradition.
Hackers was born in late 2016 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, formed by experienced musicians from the Canarian music scene. The band won Caja Sonora 2018 and the first Vive el Rock LPA, and El poder de una canción was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2024 Premios Canarios de la Música.
Its importance lies in updating the AOR and melodic-rock line previously cultivated in the Canary Islands by bands such as Krull. The presence of former members from that scene, festival circulation and regional nomination make it a contemporary continuation of Gran Canaria hard rock.
The repertory is based on original melodic-rock compositions, with lead vocals, hard-rock guitars, keyboards and an AOR-oriented rhythm section. The band shares festival bills with rock and heavy metal acts at Canarian festivals.
Transmission comes through records, festivals, regional contests and concerts with national and international bands. The band shows how Canarian melodic rock maintains generational continuity without being limited to 1980s nostalgia.
The band forms in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The band wins the regional Caja Sonora festival.
The second album is released.
El poder de una canción is nominated for Best Rock Album.
