Melodic rock and AOR band
Hackers is a Las Palmas de Gran Canaria band focused on melodic rock and AOR, with musicians from the islands’ hard-rock tradition.
La Palma Ahora documents Hackers as born in late 2016 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria through experienced musicians from the Canarian music scene. The same text records wins at Caja Sonora 2018 and the first Vive el Rock LPA, as well as El poder de una canción being nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2024 Premios Canarios de la Música.
Its importance lies in updating the AOR and melodic-rock line previously cultivated in the Canary Islands by bands such as Krull. The presence of former members from that scene, festival circulation and regional nomination make it a contemporary continuation of Gran Canaria hard rock.
The repertory is based on original melodic-rock compositions, with lead vocals, hard-rock guitars, keyboards and an AOR-oriented rhythm section. Programming sources link it to the space shared by rock and heavy metal at Canarian festivals.
Transmission comes through records, festivals, regional contests and concerts with national and international bands. The entry documents how Canarian melodic rock maintains generational continuity without being limited to 1980s nostalgia.
