Group history
The Chijeré ensemble, based in Vallehermoso (La Gomera), was honoured for its tenth anniversary during the XVI Festival Cultural Pedro Suárez in June 2017, which would indirectly place its formation around 2007; however, this is an inference, not a directly confirmed founding date. In 2018 the group appeared on RTVE’s Tenderete programme, recorded on 1 July in Vallehermoso’s Plaza de la Constitución under the musical direction of Juan Manuel Simancas, performing "Quisiera ser Vallehermoso," "Cómo te voy a olvidar," "Isla de La Gomera" and "Te gusta hacerme sufrir." Since then the Vallehermoso town council has documented its continued participation in the Baile de Magos, the Fiestas of San Juan Bautista, Canary Islands Day and the Tamargada festivities, alongside other local ensembles such as Tagonache, Jelima, Sidosi Timple, Chigadá and Isogue. No discography, official website, or formal registration as a cultural association has been located.
