Multidisciplinary project
ARTENARA is Enrique Mateu’s multidisciplinary project for updating the folkloric roots and tradition of the Canary Islands with a new sonic and visual perspective.
The official site places ARTENARA’s birth in 1996, when Enrique Mateu conceived a multidisciplinary project built around the folkloric roots and traditions of the Canary Islands. Its first recorded work, published in May 1998, already proposed a new sonic and visual landscape and was met with strong critical praise.
Its importance lies in turning Canarian folklore into a platform for contemporary reinterpretation, where image, music, field research and experimentation coexist.
The project mixes Canarian roots, electronic resources and sound construction conceived as a total work.
ARTENARA’s transmission comes through its successive releases, concerts and dialogue with Enrique Mateu’s other projects, such as Timple Digital.
Enrique Mateu concibe ARTENARA como un proyecto multidisciplinar.
Se publica el primer álbum ARTENARA, con edición en mayo y una lectura sonora nueva de Canarias.
El proyecto amplía su discografía con una edición especial UNICEF.
El proyecto continúa con nuevas publicaciones y ampliación del repertorio.
