Manuel García Déniz

After completing teacher training and passing the public examinations in 1965, he began teaching in Tenerife. His professional route included schools in Tenerife and La Palma before returning to secondary education in La Laguna. Classroom experience became the starting point for sustained work in teacher training.

In the 1980s he collaborated on curriculum renewal work and later on projects of the Canarian education administration. In his written work, mathematics appears as an activity of exploration: measurement, geometry, commented problems, strategy games and puzzles are presented as resources for learning and teaching.

He has worked with the Canary Islands Isaac Newton Society of Mathematics Teachers and the Matemáticas Newton Canarias project. In retirement, he is still listed as a researcher specialising in problem solving, games and mathematical puzzles at the programme's dissemination sessions. The Department of Education recognised him with the 2023 Viera y Clavijo Distinction.
