Enrique González Bethencourt, linked to El Toscal in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, founded and directed Afilarmónica NiFú-NiFá. His figure is fundamental to understanding the musical dimension of Tenerife carnival and the consolidation of murgas in the Canary Islands.
Regarded as a father of Canarian murgas, he helped define a format combining music, satire, social criticism, humour and popular participation.
